Last updated [CONFIRM DATE BEFORE PUBLISHING] · Previous version: August 06, 2025 This revision adds disclosure of photo, location, and document data, and removes advertising and cross-app tracking disclosures that did not reflect how the App works.
Thank you for choosing to be part of our community at VApp Creation, LLC, doing business as My Personal Valuables ("My Personal Valuables", "we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy notice, or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us at customerservice@mypersonalvaluables.com.
When you visit our website www.mypersonalvaluables.com (the "Website"), use our mobile application (the "App"), and more generally, use any of our services (the "Services", which include the Website and App), we appreciate that you are trusting us with your personal information. We take your privacy very seriously. In this privacy notice, we seek to explain to you in the clearest way possible what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it. We hope you take some time to read through it carefully, as it is important. If there are any terms in this privacy notice that you do not agree with, please discontinue use of our Services immediately.
This privacy notice applies to all information collected through our Services (which, as described above, includes our Website and App), as well as any related services, sales, marketing, or events.
1.What information do we collect?
Information collected through our App
In Short: We collect the inventory information you create — photos, item details, documents, and associated location data — plus the limited technical information needed to operate your account. We do not collect analytics or advertising data.
If you use our App, we also collect the following information:
Mobile Device Access.
We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including your mobile device's camera, microphone (for voice input features), photo library, and location services. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings.
Voice Input Data.
When you use our voice input features to add items to your inventory, we process your voice data locally on your device to convert speech to text. This voice data is not stored permanently and is only used to populate your inventory item details.
Server Logs and Technical Data.
When your device communicates with our servers, our systems record standard technical information such as the date and time of the request, the type of request, and your device's IP address. This is used to operate and secure the Services. These logs do not contain the contents of your inventory records.
Photo and Image Data.
When you photograph or select images of items to add to your inventory, those images are uploaded to and stored on our servers as part of your inventory record. When you use our AI-assisted item identification feature ("AI Create"), the photo you capture is additionally transmitted to a third-party artificial intelligence vision service provider (Google, via the Gemini API) which analyzes the image to identify the item, suggest a category, and estimate its value. Unlike voice input, this photo data is not processed solely on your device — it is transmitted from your device to our servers and then to our AI service provider for analysis. Photographs are re-encoded when they reach our servers, which removes the technical metadata your camera records — device model, capture time, and lens information are not retained.
Location Data.
When you use our AI-assisted item identification feature, we may access the geographic location of your device at the time the photo is captured, in order to confirm on your device that the item was documented at the location you associate with it. This location information is used only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. Photographs you submit contain no embedded location coordinates. You can disable location access at any time in your device's settings; the feature will continue to function without location verification.
Documents You Upload.
Our secure document storage feature allows you to upload and store files such as receipts, warranties, appraisals, and policy documents. These documents may contain personal information. Documents are stored only on your device by default. They are uploaded to our servers only if you explicitly enable cloud synchronization for this feature. If you do not enable it, your documents never leave your device.
This information is needed to maintain the security and operation of our App, for troubleshooting, and to provide the inventory, voice input, and item identification features you use.
2.How do we use your information?
In Short: We process your information for purposes based on legitimate business interests, the fulfillment of our contract with you, compliance with our legal obligations, and/or your consent.
We use personal information collected via our Services for a variety of business purposes described below. We process your personal information for these purposes in reliance on our legitimate business interests, in order to enter into or perform a contract with you, with your consent, and/or for compliance with our legal obligations. We indicate the specific processing grounds we rely on next to each purpose listed below.
We use the information we collect or receive:
To facilitate account creation and logon process.
If you choose to link your account with us to a third-party account (such as your Google or Facebook account), we use the information you allowed us to collect from those third parties to facilitate account creation and logon process for the performance of the contract.
To provide voice input functionality.
We use voice input data temporarily to convert your speech to text for the purpose of adding items to your inventory. This processing happens locally on your device.
To provide AI-assisted item identification.
We use photos you submit through the AI Create feature to identify items, suggest categories, and estimate values, in order to populate your inventory records. This is processing necessary to perform the feature you have requested.
To generate inventory reports and claim documentation.
We use your inventory records, photos, values, and any associated location or document data to generate the reports and exports you request, including PDF inventory reports and claim submissions.
To post testimonials.
We post testimonials on our Services that may contain personal information. Prior to posting a testimonial, we will obtain your consent to use your name and the content of the testimonial.
Request feedback.
We may use your information to request feedback and to contact you about your use of our Services.
To enable user-to-user communications.
We may use your information in order to enable user-to-user communications with each user's consent.
To manage user accounts.
We may use your information for the purposes of managing our account and keeping it in working order.
To send administrative information to you.
We may use your personal information to send you product, service, and new feature information and/or information about changes to our terms, conditions, and policies.
To protect our Services.
We may use your information as part of our efforts to keep our Services safe and secure (for example, for fraud monitoring and prevention).
To enforce our terms, conditions, and policies
for business purposes, to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, or in connection with our contract.
To respond to legal requests and prevent harm.
If we receive a subpoena or other legal request, we may need to inspect the data we hold to determine how to respond.
3.Advertising, tracking, and analytics
In Short: We do not do any of these things. My Personal Valuables contains no advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no analytics or crash-reporting software.
My Personal Valuables is a subscription application, and we are able to state this plainly:
We do not display advertisements anywhere in the App.
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The App contains no advertising identifiers, no App Tracking Transparency prompt, and no code that requests tracking permission.
We do not sell or share your personal information with advertising networks, data brokers, or any third party for advertising purposes.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting software. The App contains no third-party analytics SDK — no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, or any equivalent. We do not build usage profiles, and we do not monitor which features you use or how long you spend in the App.
Your photos and documents are always transmitted over encrypted connections, and the App refuses to send or load them otherwise.
Camera metadata is removed from your photos. Device identifiers, capture timestamps, and location coordinates are stripped when a photo reaches our servers.
Your photos are not used to train artificial intelligence models. We use a paid, commercial tier of our AI vision provider's service, under terms that prohibit the provider from using submitted images to train or improve its models. Human reviewers do not read or annotate your submissions.
What does leave your device
For transparency, these are the only third parties that receive any of your data, each described further in Section 4:
Our own servers — your inventory records, photos, and documents, so they can be backed up and synchronized across your devices
Our AI vision service provider — only the photos you submit through the AI-assisted item identification feature, and only when you use it
Our subscription management provider — purchase and entitlement information, to verify your subscription status
Apple and Google — payment processing for subscriptions, handled entirely by the app stores
4.Will your information be shared with anyone?
In Short: We only share information with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services, to protect your rights, or to fulfill business obligations.
We may process or share your data that we hold based on the following legal basis:
Consent:
We may process your data if you have given us specific consent to use your personal information for a specific purpose.
Legitimate Interests:
We may process your data when it is reasonably necessary to achieve our legitimate business interests.
Performance of a Contract:
Where we have entered into a contract with you, we may process your personal information to fulfill the terms of our contract.
Legal Obligations:
We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.
Vital Interests:
We may disclose your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, and illegal activities.
More specifically, we may need to process your data or share your personal information in the following situations:
AI Service Providers.
To provide our AI-assisted item identification feature, we share photos you submit through that feature with Google, via the Gemini API, for the purpose of analyzing the image and returning item details — category, description, and estimated value — to populate your inventory. This sharing occurs only when you actively use this feature and is necessary to perform the service you have requested.
We use a paid, commercial tier of this service. Under the applicable terms, Google does not use images or responses submitted through the paid Gemini API to train or improve its models, and submissions are not reviewed or annotated by human reviewers. Processing is governed by Google's data processing terms for paid services.
Business Transfers.
We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
Cloud Hosting and Infrastructure Providers.
We use third-party hosting and storage providers to operate our servers and store your inventory data, photos, and documents. These providers process data on our behalf and under our instructions.
Subscription Management.
We use a third-party subscription management service (RevenueCat) to verify and manage your subscription entitlements. This service receives a subscriber identifier, your purchase and entitlement history, and limited technical information such as device type and IP address. It does not receive your inventory data, photos, or documents.
Payment Processing.
Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google through your app store account. We never receive or store your payment card details.
5.Do we use cookies and similar technologies?
In Short: We may use cookies and similar technologies on our Website. The mobile App does not use cookies or advertising technologies.
On our Website we may use cookies and similar technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to access or store information.
Mobile technologies
Our mobile App does not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or tracking technologies, and does not send push notifications.
6.How do we handle your social logins?
In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.
Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using your third-party social media account details (like your Facebook or Google logins). Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information about you from your social media provider. The profile information we receive may vary depending on the social media provider concerned, but will often include your name, email address, friends list, and profile picture, as well as other information you choose to make public on such social media platform.
We will use the information we receive only for the purposes that are described in this privacy notice or that are otherwise made clear to you on the relevant Services. Please note that we do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by your third-party social media provider.
7.Is your information transferred internationally?
In Short: We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed by us in our facilities and by those third parties with whom we may share your personal information (see "Will your information be shared with anyone?" above), in the United States and other countries. We operate a single set of servers located in the United States; there is no regional or European alternative. All users' data is processed in the United States regardless of where they are located. Images submitted through the AI-assisted item identification feature are forwarded from our servers to our AI vision provider, which may process data in the United States and in other countries where it operates facilities.
If you are a resident in the European Economic Area, then these countries may not necessarily have data protection laws or other similar laws as comprehensive as those in your country. We will however take all necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this privacy notice and applicable law.
8.How long do we keep your information?
In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). No purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer than the period of time in which users have an account with us.
Voice Input Data:
Voice recordings are processed locally on your device and are not permanently stored on our servers. Text converted from voice input is stored as part of your inventory data.
Server Logs:
Standard server access logs are retained by our hosting provider for approximately 30 days for security and troubleshooting purposes, after which they are deleted.
Photo and Image Data:
Photos you save to your inventory are retained on our servers as part of your inventory record for as long as your account remains active. Photos submitted through the AI-assisted item identification feature are transmitted to our AI service provider only at the time of your request, and are not retained by that provider for model training. Any transient processing records held by the provider are governed by its data processing terms for paid services.
Location Data:
Location information is used transiently on your device to confirm where a photograph was taken and is not retained on our servers at all.
Documents You Upload:
Documents stored through our secure document storage feature are retained for as long as your account remains active, or until you delete them.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible, then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
9.How do we keep your information safe?
In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.
Encryption in Transit:
All communication between the App and our servers — including your account details, inventory records, photos, and documents — is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. The App is configured to refuse unencrypted connections: platform-level transport security is enforced on both iOS and Android with no exceptions, and the App will decline to load an image over a non-encrypted connection rather than transmit it in the clear.
Voice Input Security:
Voice processing happens locally on your device using your device's built-in speech recognition technology. Voice data is not transmitted to our servers for processing.
Photo and Image Data Security:
Photo data submitted through our AI-assisted item identification feature is transmitted from your device to our servers, and from our servers to our third-party AI service provider, over encrypted connections at every step. As described in Section 4, our provider's terms prohibit the use of submitted images to train or improve its models.
Document Storage Security:
Documents you upload through our secure document storage feature are encrypted. The encryption key is held in your device's hardware-backed secure storage — the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore — rather than in ordinary application preferences. Documents remain on your device only unless you explicitly enable cloud synchronization.
We have implemented technical and organizational measures designed to protect the security of the personal information we process. However, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information.
10.What are your privacy rights?
In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time. You can also control App permissions through your device settings.
Account information
If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:
Log in to your account settings and update your user account.
Use the Delete Account option available in the App menu.
Permissions
You can control the permissions the App uses at any time in your device settings:
Camera and photo library — required to photograph and store item images
Microphone — required for voice input
Location — used only for location verification of item photos; the App functions without it
Cookies and similar technologies:
Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies.
Opting out of email marketing:
You can unsubscribe from our marketing email list at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send or by contacting us using the details provided below.
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.
Note that we do not track your activity across other companies' apps or websites in any case, as described in Section 3.
12.Do California residents have specific privacy rights?
In Short: Yes, if you are a resident of California, you are granted specific rights regarding access to your personal information.
California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the "Shine The Light" law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year.
If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California, and have a registered account with a Service, you have the right to request removal of unwanted data that you publicly post on the Services. To request removal of such data, please contact us using the contact information provided below.
13.Do we make updates to this notice?
In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes to this privacy notice, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification.
